After discovering the transportation potential of the bicycle as a high school student, Adrian quickly fell down the wormhole of cycling. Initially excited by the high-speed shenanigans of riding fixed gears on the street, he quickly progressed to a fascination with ultra-endurance.
Before his 18th birthday, Adrian had completed a Super Randonneur Series (200k, 300k, 400k, and 600k rides) with the San Francisco Randonneurs. Upgrading from his 1969 Raleigh to a steel frame he designed and welded himself, Adrian began racing on the road in 2013. In five years of dedicated work, he was able to progress to Category 2 on the road after some good showings in road races and stage races in the Pacific Northwest.
Adrian’s time as a bike racer was shortened by a heart valve condition he was advised to not push too hard. He now channels his passion for high-performance cycling into his coaching practice.
Adrian’s body of work as a bike racer, in the power meter industry, as a mechanic, and as an ultra-endurance cyclist help him support the many and varied needs of athletes he works with. A compassionate listener with a systematic troubleshooting approach, Adrian can help clients identify physical and mental limitations and suggest ways to move beyond them.
Adrian has been a cycling coach since 2018. In that time, he has helped elite road racers find success. He has coached riders in preparation for events like the Unbound Gravel race, the Day Across Minnesota, Lon Haldeman and Susan Notorangelo’s PacTour events, cross country mountain bike racing, cyclocross, and ultra-distance cycling events on and off-road. He has experience supporting clients of all ages and ability levels.
